On 1-3 August ten of Australia and NZ’s leading Language Service Providers gathered in the River City Brisbane to become founding members of the new industry association, the Australasian Association of Language Companies Inc. (AALC). After much preparation and anticipation, the long awaited and much needed association was founded. The AALC board consists of the President, Tea Dietterich (2M Language Services), Vice President Australia, Jerzy Brodzki (Translators International), Vice President NZ, Hagen Issell (NZTC International), Secretary Ari Pappas (On Call), Treasurer Rona Zhang (Auschina Translation) as well as Adrienne Meakin (LOTE Marketing), George Bisas (VITS), Eva Hussain (Polaron) and Georgiana Poulter (IML-UQ). The AALC board will lead the new association into its first year to uphold and support the professional interests, status and rights of all language companies, to promote and advance the important role of language services, provide an important forum for exchange of information, promote fair competition between all language companies and explore and develop industry best practices. Exciting times for the industry and its stakeholders.
