The New Zealand Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment (MBIE) has announced its newly established panel of telephone and video interpreting service providers.
2M Language Services has been appointed to the panel, enabling participating agencies across New Zealand to access NAATI-certified interpreters via telephone and video, including on-demand services in emergency situations.
MBIE, New Zealand’s lead business-facing agency, established the panel in July 2023 to ensure equitable access to interpreters in a wide range of languages. This initiative supports New Zealanders in accessing government information, resources, and assistance, regardless of their language proficiency.
The panel was formed following a rigorous procurement process, evaluating providers on their expertise, capacity to handle high volumes, and ability to deliver professional interpreting services.

MBIE participating agenices will benefit from interpreting access in over 250 languages, including Māori and Pacific Islander languages. 2M has a well-established presence in New Zealand, as an existing panel member on MBIE’s face-to-face interpreting services since 2021. 2M’s early adoption of remote interpreting technologies and commitment to expert interpreter training has also led to its appointment on multiple Australian government panels.
MBIE’s participating agencies will benefit from 2M’s on-demand telephone and video interpreting services, ensuring instant access to qualified interpreters during emergencies.
"Remote video interpreting, in particular, provides the benefits of on-site interpreting—such as the communication of body language and facial expressions—while overcoming geographic limitations," said Tea Dietterich, CEO of 2M Language Services.
