The Australian Export Awards (AEA) is a national program that recognises Australian businesses for their export achievements and contribution to Australia’s economic prosperity. The Export Awards are first awarded into each state and territory for different business categories, then state finalists get to compete at a national level for national recognition.
As a proud supporter of Australian exporters at 2M, we regularly sponsor the Awards in our Queensland home state. 2019 won’t be an exception and we are looking forward to discovering new exporters’ success stories. “It’s extraordinary to watch how our exporter clients conquer international markets and become leaders in their field globally and then to see them celebrated at the Export Awards is the highlight of the year” says 2M CEO Tea Dietterich.
Sponsor of the 2019 QLD Export Awards for the Defence Industry
A leader in technical translations, 2M has historically been involved in the Defence industry working with Defence Primes such as Thales and Airbus or Government departments and agencies such as the Australian Department of Defence. 2M’s Atlantique Traduction Australia JV Partner has been the Naval Group’s (ex DCNS) Language Service Provider for over 10 years. And since last year our portfolio includes also Rheinmetall Defence Australia, NIOA and the many Australian exporters connected to the Defence Industry. 2M also enters the global supply chain of some of these Defence Primes. Hence, it did make sense for us to sponsor the Defence category called the “Richard Joel Award for the Defence Industry” as we are eager to hear about the success stories of our Queensland Defence industry exporters.
This award recognises outstanding export achievement in designing, manufacturing and adapting world-class products/services to meet military requirements globally. This category is open to Queensland companies in all industry sectors that can demonstrate that they are supplying to overseas defence markets. It is given in honour of the late Mr Richard Joel AM, formerly Chief Executive Officer of the Office of Economic Development for the City of Brisbane from 1986 to 2002, and a recipient of the 2000 Centennial Medal for services in promoting economic development in Brisbane.

Our CEO with Mark Pezaro (L3 Micreo) & Edward Choice (Tae Aerospace)
The session was also assisted by speakers from the DISP (Defence Industry Security Program) and the newly created Defence Export department from the Commonwealth government. Our CEO also led a panel discussion including past QLD Export Awards winners L3 Micreo and TAE Aerospace outlining their global journeys, talking about international procurement challenges and the difficulties they faced to become a successful exporter in their industry.
We strongly encourage any Defence exporter in Queensland to apply for the award and look forward to recognising their success at the Export Gala night on the 10th of October 2019.
