As many of you know, the annual A Taste of Harmony week runs from 18 – 24 March, where we celebrate diversity in Australian workplaces by encouraging colleagues to share food and stories from their different cultural backgrounds. An initiative of the Scanlon Foundation, A Taste of Harmony coincides with national Harmony Day, which is held on 21 March. This is a day when we stop, as a nation, to celebrate cultural diversity across Australia. This year, the theme for national Harmony Day is ‘Many Stories: One Australia’–acknowledging we all have different histories that are pages in the greater story of Australia.
On an international level, another significant day is being celebrated on Thursday 21 March–the United Nations’ International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. This world-wide observance highlights the need to eliminate racial discrimination and for us to adopt measures to eliminate conditions that cause or help perpetuate racial discrimination in our own communities.
These events and days are significant for the Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities in Australia.
At 2M we work with and understand CALD communities and how to reach them effectively. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you want to reach these important target audiences.
