2M offers a suite of Linguistic Quality Assurance (LQA) measures to service client-specific needs. With over 20 years of industry experience, we have developed mature Quality Assurance systems to benefit our clients and keep their communication effective across languages. 

We engage professional and NAATI-certified translators to achieve error-free and quality material for any project type. Translators are native speakers with areas of specialisation and are carefully selected based on project requirements. Language technology is a key player in producing quality translations, which is why we utilise our Language Quality Assessment Platform along with best-of-breed technology to deliver a high-quality translation product.

Lead linguists

Linguists play a central role in our quality assurance guarantee. For every translation project, we assign an experienced lead linguist to drive extensive research about the subject matter to produce high quality, accurate translations. Subject matter expertise is a crucial element of our selection process, determining the preferred linguist to manage and maintain authority over glossaries and term bases for complete consistency across translation materials. All lead linguists are native speakers, who maintain industry expertise, knowledge of tools and resources to execute translations in a timely manner and have the ability to produce culturally appropriate content. At 2M, lead linguists work hand-in-hand with a project manager to carry out pre-defined quality control processes, such as frequently assessing translations against an agreed set of guidelines to ensure translations meet quality expectations.

Our LQA services

2M stringently carries out linguistic tests to ensure quality and accuracy of translated text. Linguistic material is checked against the standards and requirements of the intended audience to determine text effectiveness, appropriateness and accuracy. Testers are trained to check for:  

  • Context,  
  • Tone, 
  • Natural sounding language,  
  • Grammatical errors,  
  • Consistent terminology and,  
  • Appropriateness for cultural references and images.  

Quality checks do not stop at the linguistic tester. A native linguistic, in-country third-party reviewer carries out an in-depth assessment for quality and consistency of final deliverablesThe reviewer checks for further quality assurance and will identify unknown errors and suggest corrective actions

Reviewers are engaged at the beginning of the project to set expectations and guidelines for the translation.  

2M maintains a Translation Memory (TM), Term Base (TB) also known as glossary and style guide to ensure the tone of each translation fits a company’s image. Production and maintenance of term bases, translation memory and style guides ensure that an established messaging style is carried through for consistency in messaging and accurate association with a brand or company.

 In addition, 2M intends to protect company image and credibility with clear and accurate messaging.  

A Subject Matter Expert (SME) is an experienced linguist, who specialises in a particular subject matter and understands the associated target market. 2M engages SMEs to evaluate industry-specific correctness, readability, and appropriateness for a target audience. 

SMEs are expected to adapt content and terminology based on industry knowledge and message efficacy in a manner that maintains the accuracy and integrity of the material. 

2M provides formal training for linguistic reviewers relevant to the standards set by the client. Our trainers are highly experienced and well-versed in training for quality assurance. We believe in taking the time to train reviewers to accommodate efficient review cycles. 

Training reviewers ensures that translated material is consistent with the client’s expectations and adheres to pre-set guidelines.

ISO certifications

ISO standards 17100 & 18841 make translation, interpreting processes and services more transparent and comparable while offering clear definitions of terms and concepts. They provide requirements for the core processes, resources, and other aspects necessary for the delivery of a quality translation and interpretation services that meets applicable specifications.

ISO 9001 standard provides the fundamental concepts, principles and vocabulary for quality management systems (QMS) and provides the foundation for other QMS standards. This standard attests that 2M understands and applies the fundamental concepts, principles and vocabulary of quality management, and effectively and efficiently manages a QMS and realises value from other QMS standards. The scope of this standard applies to all translation and interpreting services.
