Why use a professional interpreter?

Professional interpreters are certified by the National Authority for the Accreditation of Translators and Interpreters (NAATI). They are trained to:

(1) Act impartially: interpreters' personal opinions and attitudes do not affect the interpretation. 

(2) Interpret accurately: interpreting messages entirely without omitting, adding, or changing information. This includes conveying the speaker's tone and register. The interpreter may request clarification to ensure accuracy. 

(3) Keep information confidential: professional interpreters are bound by the Australian Institute of Interpreters & Translators (AUSIT) Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct. Interpreters are to protect the privacy of parties by not disclosing the details of an assignment. 

What business interpreting services do you provide?

We provide specialist business interpreters for onsite, telephone, or video sessions. You can book an interpreter for your preferred delivery method through our interpreter booking system, 2M lingo™.

For onsite, the interpreter attends the site, whereas for telephone and video, the interpreter attends the session virtually. For video sessions, the interpreter is visible on the screen.

Who are your interpreters?

2M interpreters are professional and NAATI-certified interpreters.

NAATI is the only organisation in Australia that issues credentials or certification to translators and interpreters. NAATI-certified interpreters undergo intense training before taking the provisional and practising interpreter tests. Once certified, interpreters are bound to act ethically as per the Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct.

Do I need a certified interpreter?

Whether you select a NAATI-certified interpreter or noncertified interpreter is your choice. Noncertified interpreters have an excellent command at facilitating proceedings, however NAATI-certified interpreters are often required or preferred in legal, medical, foreign or business affairs. 

What does it cost to hire an interpreter?

The cost of hiring an interpreter depends on the subject matter, location, language combination, and length of the assignment. 

Where cost budgets are limited or location is an inconvenience, 2M offers telephone and video interpreting methods. In such cases, the interpreter will join via phone or video to facilitate the meeting, consultation, or proceeding.
