The recent Rio Tinto Energy Exchange Breakfast was the second in a four-part series of Brisbane breakfasts called the ‘Energy Exchange Series’, designed to facilitate broad industry discussion of global energy issuesfacing the energy industry. Each event features internationally acclaimed speakers in a programme proudly supported by Rio Tinto and the Energy Policy Institute of Australia.
An invitation-only business breakfast hosted by Rio Tinto’s Chief Executive of Energy Doug Ritchie, this event featured keynote speaker Mr Zhang Guobao, Chairman of the Advisory Board of China’s National Energy Committee and Deputy Chairman of the Economic Committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). As an influential leader in Chinese energy policy, Mr Zhung offered his perspective on the challenges facing China with respect to energy supply and demand, the direction of Chinese energy policy development, and what this means for the rest of the world and Australia.
An industry panel discussion and Q&A’s, facilitated by Robert Pritchard, Executive Director of the Energy Policy Institute of Australia followed the keynote speech. The panel members include Doug Ritchie, Mr Zhang and two key stakeholders Mr Zhou Dadi, Deputy Chairman of the Advisory Board of the National Energy Committee Senior Advisor of Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission Counsellor of State Council and Mr Zhou Wenzhong, Secretary General, Boao Forum for Asia.
