Medical Research is a Global Activity
2M General Manager Susanne Creak organised with the other members of the QLD Chapter Committee of the German Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce the latest breakfast seminar in Brisbane, on the topic of Medical Research Is a Global Activity.
Professor Frank Gannon, Director and CEO of the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute, discussed research in the context of it being a global activity. Professor Gannon’s major interest has been the regulation of gene expression by the oestrogen receptor, which plays a major role in breast and endometrial cancer. The studies have provided leads to novel treatments to these and other cancers and have resulted in the establishment of two spin-off companies.
Frank Gannon’s most interesting presentation gave the attending business community key insights into this cutting-edge research and the challenges research faces in Australia. Whilst also enjoying a breakfast, it was an excellent opportunity to meet and network with other members of the German-Australian Chamber of Commerce and their commercial contacts.
2M Language Services CEO Tea Dietterich also attended the event ahead of her impending travel back to the 2M Europe Office but will be back for the next Chamber Business Lunch event on 13th October with Ken Smith, Trade Commissioner for TIQ for Europe.
